This Saturday FGB for Babies, please consider going to the event.  Let me know if you want to go.  We will try to meet at the gym and caravan.  This will be a good event.

  1. …and if you’ll be here on Saturday… we’ll do our own FGB at the gym. come on down for your first taste, if you never done Fight Gone Bad. it’s a doozy. and, don’t worry, it’s all scaleable.

  2. Does that mean no CFR on Saturday? Can’t do the FGB, although would love to…son’s baseball game.

  3. What time is the caravan leaving? I’ll be there!

  4. you pry just missed the post, Donna, but we WILL have class saturday. FGB-style!

  5. Thanks, Carter!

  6. Kyle Deneke says:

CFR will be open Saturday. Carter will be running the show.

  7. So sad to be missing the past couple of days, but better to stay away and get well, instead of infect everyone and risk getting worse. I will be back in the gym Thursday night! Ya’ll have fun!

  8. The Brain says:

Ugh, don’t know what you’ve got Cori, but hope you get over it soon.

  9. Kyle Deneke says:

Sri, we have yet to decide on a departure time. Registration starts at 9:00 and lasts until 10:00. I am guessing we should leave around 8:00 or 8:15 at the latest.
    Brain, what are your thoughts?

  10. i’ll be going with ya’ll saturday too! will you post the decided departure time on the message board?
brain – i have strep. i had it often when i was little, but i don’t remember feeling this bad! :\ plus i have to go to orlando for work wed and thurs.

  11. putmanjl says:

so we are going to watch ?

  12. The Brain says:

@Putman – going to watch? Silly Putman, we are going to win!
@Cori – I think all kids get it at one time or another. So you’re getting back from Orlando and heading to CFR from the airport?! Way to go!
@Kyle – Saturday morning (non-football weekend, of course), we should have no trouble. Wheels rolling at 8:15 should be fine, if we want to get there at 9 or so.

  13. hey Kids…I found an interesting article on Gluten…..
randome question…..do you all know what your cholesterol numbers are? can anyone tell me what dangerous is?

  14. pardon my grammar in my other post. I dont’ think it was quite accurate….

  15. Thanks Phil….Mine is a little high. how can that be with my healthy diet and my crazy exercise????????

  16. Kyle Deneke says:

Please do not fall victim to the cholesterol myth. It is truly the biggest load of BS this century. Remind me to show you some articles and research that clarify my point of view.

  17. Shane Lovelady says:

I would like to see those article on cholesterol also.

  18. Kyle Deneke says:
  19. Hey, my two best friends are coming in from Tulsa and Louisville and want to workout with us at CFR on Saturday, is that ok?

  20. i also read an article on robb wolf’s site re: high/low cholesterol and heart disease/stroke. it states that most heart attack victims actually have LOW cholesterol. i am with kyle on the load of b.s. with high cholesterol. however we have to exist in a society where high cholesterol is considered bad. it’s a catch 22. robyn’s health insurance rates could be affected by her cholesterol numbers, yet her numbers most likely pose no significant health risk. it’s an interesting subject open for debate. and quite infuriating if you ask me….especially with government healthcare on the horizon. i TOTALLY think the government should be in charge of my health. (insert MAJOR sarcasm.)

  21. Robyn – you are exactly right. How can your cholestrol be high considering your healthy diet and exercise?? They aren’t.
But the pharmaceutical industry would like you to think they are so you can be a life long customer for them!
And Cori is also right. Most patients who suffer heart attacks actually have low cholesterol. Cholesterol is exteremly important for brain function, hormone regulation, fertility and many other functions of the body. We are putting people at risk by lowering their cholesterol to dangerous levels with these meds.

  22. WOW!!!!! this is great information! Thanks you guys! I feel better now.
I had it checked in 07 and it was a good bit lower than what it is now. The nurse didn’t seem alarmed at my latest results b/c my tryglicerides were low and I had no history of heart attack in my family. But, I like the answers I got from you guys much better.
and, Cori….it is my work that had me take this test to get points to lower my insurance.

  23. Sort of on the same subject as cholesterol, here is a great article today from Dr. Mercola on why it’s important to eat grass-fed (as opposed to grain-fed) beef.
We all need to get together and split a cow from Boutwell or another local farmer. It’s so much more reasonable if you buy the whole cow, but most people don’t have the freezer space to do that on their own (I know we dont)!

  24. On the cholesterol front, one of the problems is there are a bunch of kinds of cholesterol and we don’t yet have a handle on what they do and what affects them. Here’s a link to my brother’s blog where he talks about some of these issues – scan the right margin for more LDL blog entries in February. http://fireofthegodsfitness.blogspot.com/2010/02/ldl-hdl-and-boogeyman.html
Also, for a laugh, he just got back from a CF coach prep course, where his favorite quote was: “That was a good deadlift. It looked like your head was going to pop off. That means you did it right.”

  25. I would go in on a cow with you Alima!( ha, that just sounds funny) I eat a lot of ground beef and am wanting to order from a farm really soon. I’m tired of buying it at the grocery. wouldn’t mind a steak here and there too!
Glad I started this discussion b/c I am getting some really good information.
    Thanks Guys!

  26. dang! i’ve been working all day and now don’t have time to play catch-up on all the articles… i guess that’s what i’ll do tomorrow! have a good wod everyone!

  27. What? Jackie – you know the weekdays are for reading and commenting on the site, not for work! 😉
Robyn – So happy you want to share a cow (it does sound funny)! We eat lots of ground beef too – LOVE it!
Go to BoutwellFarms.com and check out the options.
The Whole Cow comes in many different cuts. Some ground beef, some steaks, some roasts, and a lot of others.
If we wanted to start smaller (and since we like ground beef a lot), they also have a gound beef option. Its like 30 packages (1.5 lb each) and you save a couple dollars a pound buying in bulk. I dont think we could fit 30 packages in our freezer. But I could definitely fit 15.
We can discuss more on Friday.
A whole cow is huge, so we might need a couple others to go in on it too if we were going to go that route.
We could always do a half cow, but the savings aren’t as big.
Ok, enough cow talk. The PETA people are going to come after me.

  28. hey gang – if i’m not there to start at 5:15, it’ll be shortly thereafter. be warmed and ready to go and i’ll start first wave at 5:15 or 5:20. and we should be able to turn on the 2nd wave quickly. no set up and it’s a 20 min WOD… be ready when your turn comes up.
hope your back isn’t sore from last night’s DLs…

  29. Bad wreck on 280. Be there asap

  30. count me in the cow purchase if you guys go that route!

  31. I want a cow too. But work has zapped me for now, and I will be doing some home WOD tonight. I shall return tomorrow!

  32. add one more to the cow purchase. I’m up for it especially if its cheaper than whole foods.

  33. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My website has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being stolen? I’d truly
    appreciate it.

  34. Greetings I am so happy I found your webpage, I really found you by error,
while I was searching on Digg for something else, Anyways I
am here now and would just like to say kudos for a fantastic
post and a all round entertaining blog (I also
love the theme/design), I don’t have time to browse it all at the moment but I have saved it and also added your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a great deal more, Please do keep up the excellent work.

  35. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was
great. I don’t know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger
if you are not already 😉 Cheers!
