Comments

  1. This would appear to fall into the category of “be careful what you wish for.”

  2. Speak for yourself, Donna. The pain of Filthy Fifty is only slightly higher than the pain I’ll feel from missing this WOD. Unless I get up at 4am, which is still possible.

  3. Well, these were not the deadlifts I was looking for. But, upon further reflection, it’s a hero WOD, and whining seems out of place. So, I’ll be grateful for the chance to get to do it.

  4. for the record:
    1. Sri did not make this WOD this morning.
    2. The a.m. girls KILLED it. 12 rounds apiece. the bar is set high, folks. who can beat 12?

  5. i hate seeing Hero WODs come up.
    “McGhee”
Corporal Ryan C. McGhee, 21, was killed in action on May 13, 2009 by small arms fire during combat in central Iraq. He served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment of Fort Benning, Ga. This was his fourth deployment, his first to Iraq. Ryan was engaged to Ashleigh Mitchell of Fredericksburg, VA. He is survived by his father Steven McGhee of Myrtle Beach S.C., his mother Sherrie Battle McGhee, and his brother Zachary.

  6. Carter, thank you for including the hero information. It seriously makes it more real and brings tears to my eyes ( hush it Kyle….I’m sensitive)

  7. it’s sad to see a hero wod. i can’t believe he was just 21. so young.
carter, thanks for the encouragement and the push this morning! seriously, i don’t think i would’ve kept going after 10 without it.
cori, way to rock it rx’d! props! (and after doing filthy 50 last night!)

  8. What weight did y’all use, Jackie? Good work!

  9. thanks, donna!
    cori did rx’d at 185# and i did 135#

  10. putmanjl says:

{waving fingers} “These are not the deadlifts I was looking for.”
The old jedi mind trick, I see your angle Donna.
My studbar t shirt went over well at church last night…. NOT!

  11. thanks carter for the push this morning, as well as the cues to watch the form on the deadlifts! it really helped. i just kept thinking “push through the heels” on those deadlifts. thanks jackie, also, for pushing me to keep going. it’s nice to have a pace partner! that would’ve sucked to do alone!
hero wods: go hard and heavy, or go home! my view is to pick a weight that is heavy but manageable for you. it is not supposed to be easy. but also remember, this is a 30 minute amrap….a lot different than 20! this one’s a marathon, not a sprint!

  12. Glad you get my geeked out references, Putman. {pointing fingers back and forth from my eyes to yours}

  13. BTW, today is Thursday and you all know what that means… yes, it’s the highly anticipated WoW. For this week, I have chosen a word used by our very own Austin – in his honor. He used this earlier in the week and I, of course, had to look it up.
The WoW this week is CURRAHEE. It is a Cherokee word meaning “We stand alone together” and has been adopted as the motto of the 506th U.S. Infantry Regiment. This WoW is appropriate this week and a testament to the people at CFR. Currahee!

  14. A WoW I will definitely try to remember. Thanks Jackie. I’m definitely tearing up! He would love the WoW!

  15. We might need a running list of our WoW’s as a side bar. I can’t remember them all and when Austin comes for a visit, he’ll need to make another sentence with all the WoW’s!

  16. oh, for the love of pete….the soreness is setting in real good now…..groannnnnn…..tomorrow’s gonna suck navigating luggage through two airports!

  17. Cori, I am feeling your pain and I haven’t even done McGhee yet. It might have been better to just go ahead and get both of these WODs done in a 12-hour time span like you did!

  18. Donna, there is definitely an advantage to wod’ing in the p.m. and coming back for more in the a.m.: the soreness has not set in yet. However it’s a few hours later that you have to worry about!

  19. @Carter – I don’t know if I can let myself get called out like that and not respond… so much for Art After Dark at the BMA, sounds like I’ll be deadlifting!
